World population Day, which seeks to focus attention on the urgency and importance of population issues, was established by the governing council of the United Nations Development Programme in 1989, an outgrowth of the interest generated by the Day of five billion, which was observed on 11 July, 1987.
Students need to be sensitized about this concerning problem. They also need to be informed of the measures that are already underway to curb the problem of population before it gets out of hand.
The curriculum and IQ club prepared powerpoint presentation which covered this topics. Degree college and Junior college students were shown the presentation. The students were left enlightened about population and its problems.
